Two For Tips: Using Felt For Something

Hello beautiful people! Today I bring you a little Two For Tips. Sort of. I don't use felt on a day to day basis, but for those who do, this is an alternative on what you can do with the highly inexpensive material.

Being the polish junkie that I am, I generally go through a lot of cotton pads when I paint my nails, especially when I have glittered, textured or holo polish on. I use cotton pads because the cotton balls don't cut it and the fuzz gets annoying, especially when I'm swatching a ton of polish at once. It also gets caught in the grooves of my stamping plates. Cotton pads aren't super expensive, but when you're buying a pack or two on a bi-weekly basis, it can be a bit much at around $4 a pack. So I tried felt and it was amazing.

I bought my felt at Hobby Lobby for roughly 3 pieces for $1. I bought 9 total "sheets" for $2.97 plus tax.

I proceeded to cut my "sheet" in half a bunch of times, first vertically and just kept cutting in half until I got 32 pieces. My pieces ended up to be roughly 2 1/2" X 1 1/2". That gives me a total of 288 squares for the 9 "sheets".

Here's where the savings really come into play. When I take of nail polish with cotton rounds or pads, it usually takes about 4 pads to get my nails completely clear of polish or residue. If I have a glitter or textured polish it's usually a lot more than that. With the felt, because it's thicker, I usually only use 1 for both hands or 2 if I've got something difficult on.

Not only is the felt thicker, but it's textured, making it a little easier to rub off the polish without shredding cotton pads or balls.

Easy-peasy removal at a cheaper price? Yes, please! Unfortunately, you can't wash and reuse the felt because it does have paint (nail polish) on it that doesn't lend well to reuse. I love using felt because it's such a neater alternative and I feel it really gets the polish off of my stamping plates.

Thanks you guys for tuning in! Love you!
